Jean-Benoît Pouliot (born 1975)
Lives and works in Montréal. Pouliot presented a new body of work in a solo show at Galerie Hugues Charbonneau (Montréal) in September 2012. Working with printmaking and gravure lead Pouliot to explore painting and its processes. With minimal interference, the surface reveals organic patterns evoking a number physical phenomenon such as condensation, rusted metal, stains and scratches. The additional system of lines and circuits refers to space and architecture in an attempt to capture, on the painted surface, the dichotomy of nature versus culture.
